The title says it all, doesn’t it? Nellie Andreeva needs to go sit somewhere. Anyways, here’s the latest round of TV and movie castings and news:

Patti LaBelle has confirmed that she’s coming back for the second season of Empire! WHOO! Also, apparently Lee Daniels calls LaBelle “Lala.” As Spock would say, “Fascinating.”

Masi Oka, whom I’d suggested to play Brad Katsuyama in Flash Boys, has confirmed that he’ll be back for the Heroes sequel, Heroes Reborn. He’ll once again play fan favorite character Hiro,

Jamie Lee Kirchner has been cast in the lead role of the CW’s upcoming pilot, Dead People. The show has a lot in common with Sleepy Hollow. It’s got J.J. Abrams power behind it (Sleepy Hollow has some Abrams weight by proxy; Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are two big guys in Abrams’ Bad Robot projects), and also features a guy who may have been dead for a while that left him with the ability to speak to the dead, including his dead wife. Kirchner’s character is a police officer who initially thinks the guy  is certifiable, until things start lining up in a way that shows that he’s telling the truth. Also, the main guy is, according to Brown Sista, is white. It all sounds the same.

Cory Hardrict has been cast in Sony’s November Criminals, joining Chloe Grace Moretz, Ansel Elgort, and Catherine Keener.

The short film Black Girl in Paris, which stars Da Sweet Blood of Jesus star Zaraah Abrahams, will make its way to HBO. The film focuses on a writer who gets a sexual awakening from a prostitute, played by Abrahams.

Bradley Cooper will direct a remake of A Star is Born and is hoping to get Beyonce to play the lead role! No shade, but we’ve seen Beyonce act before. It’s never been that great. This role is one that Judy Garland played extremely well. The whole film rested on her and will rest on Beyonce if she gets the role. I’m concerned. But who knows? Maybe I’m wrong. As a sidenote, Clint Eastwood was originally going to direct the film.

I haven’t been with the X-Men: First Class reboot series from the moment Darwin died FOR NO REASON. But, I just might take a look at the next film, X-Men: Apocalypse, since they’ve cast Jubilee! Lana Condor will don the classic yellow trenchcoat.

On the flip side, I’ve been a big fan of the Star Trek reboot series, despite the disastrous idea to have Benedict Cumberbatch play Khan. But I’ll just pretend the second film didn’t happen (especially since some of the cast members and even Abrams himself didn’t like it). The reason I’ll pretend it’s a blip in time: Idris Elba is in talks to play the villain in Star Trek 3! Also, Justin Lin is directing! And, Simon Pegg has said that the film will be a lot like the original TV series—presenting an uplifting look at humanity’s capacity for peace and understanding.

Colman Domingo has been added to the cast of CBS’ For Justice (including Anika Noni Rose, Phylicia Rashad, Anjili Pal, Leonardo Nam and Shawn Hatosy) and will join The Knick.

Letoya Luckett will play a “happily married” mom who’s having trouble conceiving on NBC’s Love is a Four Letter Word.

James Lesure will join Mike Epps, Nia Long, Aalyrah Caldwell, Sayeed Shahidi (the younger brother of black-ish star Yara Shahidi) and Iman Benson in Uncle Buck.

A Key and Peele sketch is finally making its way to the movies! Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele will star in Substitute Teacher, based on their hilarious skit.
