Another episode of NBC’s The Irrational is in the bag. It is also the last episode now that their fall break is underway. But do not worry, because the show will resume this week as Alec Mercer (Jessie L. Martin) has more shenanigans to deal with. But before those future adventures begin, it’s time to recap what happened in last week’s episode. And Mercer is teamed up with fan-favorite fixer girlfriend Rose Dinshaw (Karen David)!

Episode seven Stan by Me finds Mercer and Dinshaw enjoying their time together until they are interrupted by famous K-pop star Yoonie Kang (Kirsten Leigh) whom the fixer had relations in the past. She comes to inform them that one of her hardcore fans, Mia (Summer Lynn Gillespie), was murdered. Dinshaw interviews Kang’s ex-boyfriend Dae-Min Kim (Ki Hong Lee), who tells her that another fan named YoonieVerse was harassing Dae-Min.

Through the magic of behavioral science studies, Mercer uses their experiment to expose YoonieVerse in a mock fan event for Kang leading to more revealing information about Kang and Dae-Min trying to save Mia. He and Dinshaw eventually learn that Kang’s producer, Ji-Ho Kong (Keong Sim) murdered Mia and laundered money for his own personal gains. The authorities were able to stop him before he escaped back to Seoul with Kang as his hostage.

Meanwhile, Marissa (Maahra Hill) was introduced to a new supervisor who wants FBI agents to relax from the pressures of casework. An idea that Marissa doesn’t exactly agree with prompts Kyile (Travina Springer) to invoke the Other Idea’s Bias, amusing her sister-in-law. Turns out that the supervisor’s idea was inspired by Marissa before she became an FBI agent, prompting the pair to discuss working together.

Mercer and Dinshaw hash out their feelings and trust with each other as their bond grows. Kang and Dae-Min are back together as an item with the latter choosing to go independent from now on.

This was a decent midseason finale to end 2024. However, it seems like a tragedy might be coming around the corner with the way things are going now. Everything in Mercer’s life is a bit too perfect, meaning there might be a surprising turn of events that could potentially take the series into dark territory. We’ll see what happens when The Irrational comes back on the air this Tuesday!
