Set your Christmas viewing calendars now! BET+‘s upcoming holiday film, Blended Christmas, will give blended families the spotlight as a new wife takes care of her husband’s family with the help of a special angel.

Written and directed by Tamala Baldwin (Bubbly Brown Sugar), Blended Christmas stars Jennifer Freeman and Anthony Dalton as a newlywed couple who are set for an exotic honeymoon. But family matters eventually come first when the husband’s family, including his ex-wife and children, fall ill. According to the synopsis, “[t]he film beautifully captures the evolving landscape of the American family.”

The film also stars Victoria Rowell, Tabatha Robinson, Lulu Lopez, Lamar K. Cheston, Charles Batson Jr. and Carlee Elston. Baldwin produces through her company Soul Kisses Productions. Cecil Chambers of Triumphant Pictures also produces. Kevin Pauhuls and Gabriela Custodio also produce.

Chambers talked about what drew him to the film.

“When I first read the script, I was immediately drawn to the heart and authenticity of the story,” he said in a statement. “Blended Christmas is not just a holiday film; it’s a reflection of the evolving family dynamics that so many people experience today. I wanted to produce this film because it offers a fresh, meaningful narrative that resonates with audiences from all walks of life, reminding ust hat family is defined by love and connection.”

Soul Kisses Productions wrote the film gives representation to all types of families, not just families created through remarriage.

“As the American family continues to evolve, Blended Christmas offers a timely celebration of diverse family structures that are becoming the norm,” said the streaming service. “From divorce and adoption to LGBTQ families, the film underscores that love and connection are at the heart of every family, regardless of its makeup.”

Baldwin also talked about her hope for families to feel represented by this film, saying, “The American family is changing, and with that comes the need for new narratives.”

“Family is not defined by tradition or blood alone, but by the love that binds us together,” she continued. “Blended Christmas aims to spark dialogue and showcase how even in the most challenging circumstances, modern families can thrive.”

Blended Christmas will be available on BET+ this holiday season.
