Jesse Garcia and Dennis Haysbert in Flamin’ Hot. (Hulu/Disney+)
One of Cheetos’ most popular flavors, Flamin’ Hot Cheetos, got its start not from Cheetos executives, but from a Latino janitor who brought his heritage to the classic cheesy snack. The story has been dramatized in the new biopic Flamin’ Hot, with the new trailer released below.
The film stars Jesse Garcia as Richard Montañez, a janitor who created the spicy Cheetos variation. According to the official description:
“Flamin’ Hot is the inspiring story of Richard Montañez (Jesse Garcia) who as a Frito Lay janitor disrupted the food industry by channeling his Mexican-American heritage to turn Flamin’ Hot Cheetos from a snack into an iconic global pop culture phenomenon.”
Joining Garcia are Annie Gonzalez, Dennis Haysbert, Emilio Rivera, Bobby Soto, Tony Shalhoub, Matt Wash and Pepe Serna. Flamin’ Hot is directed by Eva Longoria in her directorial debut and produced by DeVon Franklin. The film is written by Lewis Colick and Linda Yvette Chávez.
Flamin’ Hot will drop simultaneously on Hulu and Disney+ June 9.
