Hello, Internet! I am back with a review and final recap of Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel. It has been a very entertaining ride throughout this series, and I am excited for what happens in Kamala Khan’s journey in the MCU. Like a seed being planted until it blooms into a flower, Marvel has begun to introduce a particular concept that has been hinted at since the start of Phase 4. What is that particular concept? I will tell you later, but for now let’s Embiggen!

Episode 5 Time and Again goes back in time to India 1942 following Aisha (Mehwish Hayat) taking refuge with an India Independence activist, Hasan (Fawad Khan) offers her shelter. The two eventually fall in love, with Aisha becoming pregnant with the soon to be Kamala’s grandmother Sana (Samina Ahmad). Years later, the leader of the Clandestines, Najima, finds and orders Aisha to retrieve the bangle but leaves it with Sana.

As the family attempt to escape to the new nation of Pakistan, Najima finds Aisha and kills her, knowing she has failed and spends decades in search of the bangle. Young Sana and Hasan got separated from the chaos. Kamala (Imani Vellani), having been accidentally transported back to the past, tries to find a way to get back to the future. She finds the wounded Aisha and asks her to guide Sana back to her father. Aisha complies by creating a projection of stars guiding her back to Hasan after realizing she’s the person in the stories her parents told about.

Transported back to the present day, Najima’s strike toward the bangle opened the Veil of Noor and could possibly vaporize the world. Najima sacrifices herself to close the veil before transferring her powers to her son Kamran (Rish Shah). Sana and Muneeba (Zenobia Shroff) find Kamala safe and sound with Muneeba accepting her daughter’s powers. Meanwhile, Kamran realizes he has powers, and with the Department of Damage Control manhunt is still underway, tries to find refuge with Bruno (Matt Lintz), only for a DODC drone to use deadly force on Bruno’s apartment.

Episode 6 “No Normal” picks up with Bruno and Kamran being pursued by DODC across New York as Kamala reunites with them in her new superhero suit. The three people, along with Kamala’s friend Nakia (Yasmeen Fletcher), her brother Aamir (Saagar Shaikh), and the school’s popular girl Zoe Zimmer (Laurel Madsen), come together in an effort to stall DODC for Kamran to escape with Agent Clearly (Arian Moayed), who tells his partner Deever (Alysia Reiner) to retreat but Deever immediately disregards his order. Kamran catches on that his mother died and, after believing she was killed by the Red Daggers, becomes enraged. Kamala fights off DODC agents before trying to contain Kamran, coaxing him into escaping to Pakistan. She then becomes a beloved hero in the New Jersey community with her dad Yusef (Mohan Kapur) explaining why her name “Kamala” is actually another word for “Marvel.”

Near the end of the episode, Bruno tells Kamala that she possesses a genetic mutation that the rest of the family do not have. In a post-credit scene, Kamala’s bangle starts acting strange. When she touches the bangle, Kamala is then transported elsewhere and replaced with a confused and panicked Carol Danvers (Brie Larson).

Overall, these last two episodes cemented Kamala Khan as the next step in diversifying the MCU’s latest roster. It was a great series from beginning to end with a set-up that will hopefully explain why Carol Danvers is freaked out and where did Kamala get transported to. It is also exciting to see what kind of role Ms. Marvel is going to play in The Marvels coming out next year and going forward in Marvel Studios’ The Multiverse Saga. Maybe Carol Danvers’ next adventure will probably explain the state of the galaxy after the events of Avengers: Endgame and potentially address any multiverse incursions that may or may not happen after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. All in All, it was a fun time with Ms. Marvel and audiences can wait for a season two.
