Hello Internet! I am back with an MCU tv show this time. Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel is opening the doors to the next generation of superheroes. I believe this show will give the franchise a new fresh coat of paint while still relying on pre-existing heroes before. Of course, it follows the familiar MCU Tom Holland Spider-Man route, but it is a fun introduction to Kamala Khan in its own right.

Episode 1 Generation Why follows Khan (Imani Vellani) as she struggles to navigate her life as a teenager in Jersey City, New Jersey. She is a fan of the Avengers, particularly Captain Marvel–which is a reminder that this series is also another set up for The Marvels next year. She and her best friend and tech gizmo Bruno Carreili (Matt Lintz) plan to go to the very first AvengersCon, which is the equivalent of real-life Comic-Con. Problem is her parents, Yusuf (Mohan Kapur) and Muneeba Khan (Zenobia Shorff) are very strict, waning her to stop fangirling about superheroes and focus on real-life situations like getting good grades at school, despite her brother Aamir (Saagar Shakih) trying to appeal to them. She happens upon a bracelet among her family’s belongings containing superpowers, sparking new ramifications.

As I mentioned, this show is basically another re-tread of Spider-Man Homecoming, where we see how she is weird to other students other than her best friends. Carreili is basically the next Ned; just like Ned who is a computer genius, Bruno is a tech genius who has great chemistry between him and Khan. It makes the audience feel like they are acutally best friends living in a city that might probably be attacked by aliens or anything Strange (get it? Because we’re dealing with the multiverse stuff in relation to Doctor Strange…anyways). The cast is great in the episode, and I am hoping to see how everyone’s characters progress throughout the series.

Episode 1 is a great way to start off this character’s journey to become the hero Jersey City needs. I do not have any real complaints here, other than hoping that the mom would accept the person her daughter is going to become later on. I mean, we need to have some emotional closure before Khan joins the Young Avengers initiative somewhere down the road. It is a great start for Ms. Marvel
