I meant to put this up sometime last week, but better late than never, right?

Anyways, the red band trailer for What Men Want is out, and I’m surprised at how much I laughed at this. Well, maybe “surprised” isn’t the wrong word, since I expected it to be funny. What I’m truly surprised is how much of a prude I can be.

Synopsis (via Paramount):

Ali Davis (Taraji P. Henson) is a successful sports agent who’s constantly boxed out by her male colleagues. When Ali is passed up for a well-deserved promotion, she questions what else she needs to do to succeed in a man’s world… until she gains the ability to hear men’s thoughts! With her newfound power, Ali looks to outsmart her colleagues as she races to sign the next basketball superstar, but the lengths she has to go to will put her relationship with her best friends and a potential new love interest (Aldis Hodge) to the test. WHAT MEN WANT is the latest comedy from director Adam Shankman (HAIRSPRAY) and producers Will Packer and James Lopez (GIRLS TRIP), co-starring Tracy Morgan, Richard Roundtree, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Josh Brener, Tamala Jones, Phoebe Robinson, Max Greenfield, Jason Jones, Brian Bosworth, Chris Witaske and Erykah Badu.

Of course, I’m 30 years old, I know about the world, etc. But I don’t often watch rated R movies because…I just don’t feel like seeing either gratuitous sex or gratuitous violence in front of me for hours at a time. And, as this trailer shows, What Men Want is very much along the lines of a sex comedy. Usually, I don’t watch those (except for a certain few, like Boomerang).

Aside from sometimey prudishness, one main reason I don’t watch a lot of sex comedies is because the jokes never seem funny to me. But this trailer made me laugh, and it seems like this movie could be highly entertaining. And it’s about time Taraji P. Henson was given a chance to flex her comedic muscle in a big way. Hopefully this opens up more doors for her to star in more comedies (and just more movies in general; you can never have too much Taraji).

I’d be interested to see it when it comes to the theaters Feb. 8, 2019. What do you think about the trailer? Give your opinions in the comments section below!
